Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Chingiz Aidarbekov on 13 January 2020 in Bishkek.
Minister C. Aidarbekov warmly welcomed the Secretary General B.Amreyev and expressed his deep satisfaction for the diligent and very decent work of the Turkic Council in 2019.
The Foreign Minister restated the full support of the Kyrgyz side to the Secretariat of the Turkic Council in all its efforts and Secretary General thanked the Minister for the fruitful Chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan in the Turkic Council, underlining significant achievements made by the Organization during this period.
The Foreign Minister and the Secretary General exchanged views on the Turkic Council activities in the past year, focusing on the outcomes of the 7th Summit held in Baku in October 2019 and discussed the agenda of the upcoming extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Turkic Council Member States, planned for early February of this year.
They reviewed views on the short and long term work plan of the Secretariat for the forthcoming period, presented by the Secretary General for the year of 2020, including the developing the relations with non-member countries and strengthening the cooperation with international organizations, as well as enhancing the visibility of the Council in the world.
Secretary General highlighted the priorities of the Secretariat, that shape the direction of its activities, among which economic cooperation takes the lead by putting the development of SMEs at the center with the aim of increasing the volume of trade and investment activities between private sectors of the member countries. In this context B.Amreyev underlined the importance of the establishment of the Turkic Investment Fund and gave brief information on the current state of works carried out by the Secretariat in this regard.
Parties also exchanged views on the activities and events of the Turkic Council to be organized by the Kyrgyz side throughout the year.
The Minister and Secretary General expressed their satisfaction with working closely with each other and uttered their wish to continue their joint efforts for further strengthening the multidimensional cooperation of the Turkic Council Member States.
Project Director Zhyldyz Uzakova accompanied Secretary General Amreyev during the meeting.
