In the framework of his visit to Nur-Sultan, Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev met with the Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Beibut Atamkulov on 24 November 2020.
B. Amreyev and B. Atamkulov exchanged views on the ongoing efforts of the Organization to generate a closer cooperation and deeper integration among Turkic Council member states as well as the existing economic cooperation agenda of the Organization and updated each other on the recent status of important undertakings in this regard.
The Parties highlighted the huge economic potential of intra-regional trade, investments and industrial development among the Turkic Council Member States. A special emphasis was made on the current activities carried in the areas such as transport, industry, infrastructure, construction, tourism.
The Minister and Secretary General stressed the importance of increasing the efficiency and the competitiveness of Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (Middle Corridor) facilitating transport operations, eliminating administrative barriers, and decreasing the logistical costs in the Corridor as well as the operationalization of the International Combined Freight Transport Agreement, extension of Sister Ports project of the Turkic Council in the Caspian Sea.
Minister Atamkulov and Secretary General Amreyev underlined the importance of activities of the Supply Chain Group in the field of health cooperation, which includes the joint production of medical devices/equipment, health infrastructure investments, as well as the construction of new and well-equipped modern hospitals, aiming to increase in the national capacity of the pharmaceutical industry.
