Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev met with the Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Ramin Guluzade in the framework of his working visit to Baku on 8-9 September 2020.
Minister Ramin Guluzade welcomed the Secretary General and informed him about the taken measures by the Republic of Azerbaijan to address the issues raised during the Ministerial Meeting held on 30 April.
The Secretary General underlined that at the Extraordinary Summit of the Turkic Council held on 10 April 2020, the Heads of States placed a special emphasis on transport cooperation to ensure food security and unhindered movement of essential goods (such as; humanitarian goods, basic consumer goods, medicines and medical equipment etc.) among the Member and Observer States of the Turkic Council during the pandemic and in the post-pandemic period.
As a result of the said Summit and the Ministerial Meeting the Parties activated the “Transport Coordination Committee” of the Turkic Council at the level of Deputy Ministers as the “Task Force” to quickly resolve emerging issues and effectively coordinate transport and logistics matters. He also briefed the Minister that the Secretariat also in the process of the finalization of the draft “Agreement on the International Combined Freight Transport among the Member States of the Turkic Council”.
The Minister and the Secretary General also discussed the preparation for the 5th meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the Turkic Council to be held on 16 October 2020 in Budapest.
They also exchanged views on ensuring the sustainability of transit cargo flows through Azerbaijan, the implementation of the TASIM project, the expansion of startups, as well as the collaboration on the development of startups network within the framework of the Turkic Council.
