Secretary General of Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev attended the "3rd Meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the ECO Educational Institute (ECOEI)" held via Video-Conference on 12 August 2020.
The Meeting was hosted by H.E. Ziya Selçuk, Minister of National Education of Republic of the Turkey. ECO Secretary General H.E. Dr. HadiSoleimanpour, Ministers and Deputy Ministers from ECO Member Countries, President of ECO Educational Institute H.E. Prof. Dr. Akif Kireçci, and high level officials from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan attended the Video-Conference.
The Meeting constituted a new chapter for cooperation where support by the Member States is essential for the success of the Institute.
Parties discussed on how to re-activate the ECO Educational Institute in which participating Members agreed to support the Institute in its activities. The Meeting also conculuded on the new scale of assessments, two-year work programme as well as annual budget of the Institute for 2 years.
H.E. Prof. Dr. Akif Kireçci, was re-elected as President of ECO Educational Institute (ECOEI) during the Meeting.
Referring to the Turkic Council’s observer status in ECO, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdat Amreyev emphasized in his speech the fruitful relations and cooperation between the two organizations and, briefed the participants on the ongoing projects and programs in the field of education on the agenda of the Turkic Council such as the “Orkhun Exchange Program”, “Educational Exchange Program” for education professionals, and the Sister School Project “Student Exchange Program” among secondary/high schools of the Member States of the Turkic Council.
Delegations stated that the current observer status of the Turkic Council in ECO provides both sides with the opportunity to exchange views on the issues of mutual interest and act together to contribute in regional development.
They underlined that there is an ample room for Turkic Council and ECO to work on joint projects in boosting mutual cooperation in various fields including education, which would yield positive results for regional development of our common region.
