The Seventh Meeting of Senior Officials of the Ministries of Education (SOM) moderated by Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman focused on preparation for the Fifth Meeting of the Ministers of Education of the Turkic Council, activities of Turkic Council Turkic University Union (TÜRKÜNİB) and in particular Orkhun Exchange Programme among others.
The Delegations of the Member States had also discussions on the issues included to the agenda of Fourth General Assembly of the TÜRKÜNİB scheduled to be held on 22-25 April 2019 in Turkistan, Kazakhstan.
During the SOM meeting, the Kazakh side informed that they will host Third Student Exchange Programme among secondary/high schools in May 2019. The Parties also have agreed that Educational Exchange Program for education professionals of Member States of the Turkic Council will be hosted by Turkey in early September.
The Parties also discussed at length the draft Regulation of the Turkic Council Sister Schools Partnership Programme, as well as the final text of the Award Directive of the Turkic Council Turkic University Union and have agreed that both texts will be approved by the Decisions of the Ministers at the Ministerial Meeting on 15 March 2019.
The representative of Hungary, Mr. Saudor Dorogi, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Hungary in Astana who participated at the meeting, gave a detailed information about Hungarian scholarships granted to the young people from the 6 Turkic Speaking Countries, as well as Szeged University of Sciences and Eötvös Lorand University that applied for membership to the Turkic University Union.
Project Directors Jeyhun Shahverdiyev, Jhyldyz Uzakova and Ali Çiviler were also present at the meeting.
