The 8th Meeting of the Ministers of Education of the Organization of Turkic States was held on 1 June 2024 in Shusha, Republic of Azerbaijan.

The meeting started with the opening speech of H.E. Emin Amrullayev, the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who welcomed the participants and shared his views on perspective areas of educational cooperation under the OTS.

Mr. Sadi Jafarov, the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States stressed the important role of education and science in the activities of the Organization and reported the outcomes of the 7th General Assembly of the TURKUNIB held on 20 May 2024 in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.

The parties hold discussions and took decisions on the subjects relating to the cooperation in the field of higher education among the OTS Member States and Observers.

They discussed the proposals and concept papers submitted by the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Türkiye, directed at improvement educational cooperation within the OTS, including strengthening the Turkic Universities Union and Orkhun Exchange Programme.
