The delegation of the Turkic Council that came to Astana to attend the10th International Conference on “Transport Transit Potential-TransEurasia 2017” organized by Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan held a meeting with the international organization "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" (TITR) on 3 November 2017.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospective cargo transportation that will be implemented through railway line of the Trans-Caspian Transportation Corridor, which gained greater importance in the scope of China’s “One Belt One Road” project and subsequent opening of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line.
The parties agreed that cooperation in the framework of the TITR, which also includes the member states of the Turkic Council, should be enhanced in the light of the recent developments.
In this regard, Turkic Council and TITR will join hands to promote Trans-Caspian route at the "Logitrans" International Transport Logistics Exhibition that will be held on 15-17 November 2017 in Istanbul. In this connection, Turkic Council will arrange the meetings among the TITR, officials of "Khorgos" logistics center and Kuryk port, which will also be present at the Exhibition, and the Turkish firms operating in the field of railway transportation.
It was decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkic Council and the TITR with the aim to establish a formal framework of cooperation and outline steps to be taken in the future.
The parties decided to coordinate their efforts for the establishment of regular transportation links on the Trans-Caspian route and launch of the demonstration tests on the line.
Project Directors Ali Çiviler and Assan Mazhitov accompanied Turkic Council Deputy Secretary General Kocaman at the meeting.
