The meeting entitled `Turkic Council and Cooperation in Eurasia in the Light of Developments across the Region`, organized with the collaboration of Turkic Council, SAM and AVİM is concluded.

The meeting entitled “Turkic Council and Cooperation in Eurasia in the Light of Developments across the Region” took place on 24 February 2015 at JW Marriott Hotel in Ankara organized with the collaboration of Turkic Council, SAM (Center for Strategic Research of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey) and AVİM (Center for Eurasian Studies)

The meeting, where more than 40 guests including ambassadors, academics, and representatives of relevant think thanks together with presidents of official research institutes of the Turkic Council’s Member States as well as President of Strategic Research Institute of Azerbaijan were participated in, constitutes the first event of the Turkic Council organized in this format.

Furthermore, the introductory film of the Turkic Council, of which the preparation was recently concluded, was shared with the public opinion for the first time at the said meeting.

Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov and Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Ambassador Ali Kemal Aydın addressed to the participants at the opening ceremony. Following the opening session, President of SAM Prof. Dr. Ali Resul Usul delivered a speech on Quest of Cooperation for Peace and Security in Eurasia and Turkey and then the President of AVİM Rtd. Ambassador Alev Kılıç took the floor with his speech entitled Challenges and Opportunities for Cooperation in Eurasia.

Rtd. Ambassador Halil Akıncı, Former Secretary General of the Turkic Council, made a presentation on Turkic Council in the Framework of Cooperation in Eurasia, where he referred to the process of the establishment of the Turkic Council, factors constituting this process as well as activities carried out since then. At the q&a session mission and vision of the Turkic Council was discussed at length. At the same time President of Strategic Research Institute of Azerbaijan, Mr. Farhad Mammadov expressed their strong desire to host the next meeting in Baku in May 2015.

It was decided that a report will be written jointly by Turkic Council, SAM and AVIM including the discussions on the agenda items of the meeting.

Project Directors Pelin Musabay Baki and Assan Mazhitov as well as Chief of Protocol Emre Yurdakul accompanied Secretary General Ambassador Hasanov in this meeting.
