The message of Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov on the occasion of May 9th, the `Victory Day`over Nazism:
The most terrible and bloody war started precisely 72 years ago. It claimed many lives bringing a lot of sorrow and tears to every family living at that time.
Over 3 million people from Turkic Council Member States Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well as from the other brotherly Turkic countries were conscripted as soldiers in this dreadful struggle against Nazism and almost half of these conscripts never returned from the frontline.
We will always remember those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of freedom, independence and our bright future. Today, after so many years, the Victory Day over the Nazi forces remain one the most important and touching holidays in our countries being honored and praised with sympathy, appreciation and gratitude.
I avail myself of this occasion to celebrate veterans from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well as from the other brotherly Turkic countries who defended our homelands and rebuilt our countries for the sake of peace and happiness of the future generations. I would also like to commemorate all the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives in this cruel war with respect and mercy, and wish peace, happiness and prosperity to the Turkic World.
Secretary General of the Turkic Council
Ambassador Ramil Hasanov
