I would like to celebrate the “Victory Day”, the day when the Allied Forces triumphed the victory over the Nazi occupants.
A great number of people of the Member States of the Turkic Council, especially Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan took part in this bloody conflict. Out of 600 thousand Azerbaijanis and out of 300 thousand Kyrgyzstanis went to the front where more than half of the conscripts from Azerbaijan and about 80 thousand conscripts from Kyrgyzstan lost their lives defending their homeland. In the same manner, almost every fourth person from Kazakhstan out of an approximate 6 million population of the time was mobilized, of these about 1,200 million were conscripted as soldiers. The fact that around 700 people from the three republics were nominated to receive the order of Hero of the Soviet Union reiterates the impact and relevance of the courage of the Turkic soldiers who were defending the life of their people, as well as the freedom and independence of their countries.
Once again, on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism I would like celebrate people of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and wish them peace, stability and prosperity.
On behalf of the Turkic Council and on my own behalf, I commemorate all the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives in this cruel war with, respect and mercy.
The Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ramil Hasanov.
