President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev launched the international exhibition "Astana Expo-2017" on 9 June 2017 in Astana.
In his speech, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed that he is convinced that the Expo will give a new significant impulse to interaction among nations.
The President added that visitors will be able to get familiar with Kazakhstan`s culture, while the theme of the exhibition fully meets the global logic of environmentally balanced sustainable development of the world.
In his statement, President Nazarbayev also emphasized that an exhibition of this scale would not be possible without the efforts of international community representing its achievements at the Exhibition.
About 6 thousand different events are planned to take place in the framework of the exhibition, which is certain to facilitate mutual understanding among countries and provide dynamic interaction among the state, the private sector and the public.
The official part of the opening ceremony was held at the Congress Center of Expo. Following the ceremony, the participants enjoyed the concert program that took place in the Amphitheater.
At the end of the event, the audience was shown the projection laser show on the sphere and a bundle of big fireworks.
Heads of state and heads of government of 21 countries including President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman, Chairman of the People`s Republic of China Xi Jinping, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, King of Spain Philip VI, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as heads of international organizations like UN Secretary General António Guterres and high-level officials took part in ceremony.
It should be recalled that “Future Energy” is the theme of the Astana Expo 2017. The expo will last for three months starting on 10 June 2017 and ending on 10 September 2017. More than 130 countries and 22 international organizations have confirmed their intention to participate in the expo, while it is expected that 2 million visitors will come to the event.
