The second online meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Trade Facilitation Committee took place on June 22, 2023. The meeting was moderated by Deputy Secretary General Omer Kocaman and aimed to discuss and exchange views on the work plan for the period of 2023-2024.
During the meeting, representatives from the member countries of the OTS, which include Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, actively participated. The Trade Facilitation Committee serves as a platform to enhance the economic cooperation among Turkic States and promote trade facilitation initiatives within the Organization.
The meeting began with Deputy Secretary General Omer Kocaman welcoming the participants and emphasizing the significance of trade facilitation in strengthening economic ties among the member states. He highlighted the importance of cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of best practices to overcome trade barriers and streamline trade processes.
The Parties engaged in a productive discussion, sharing their views and proposals on the work plan for the upcoming period. The member countries recognized the potential benefits of closer collaboration in these areas and expressed their commitment to enhancing trade facilitation measures. Furthermore, the Parties highlighted the significance of capacity building initiatives to support the implementation of trade facilitation measures effectively.
The second online meeting of the OTS Trade Facilitation Committee concluded with the agreement to further refine the proposed work plan for 2023-2024 based on the suggestions and inputs of the Member States. The commitment to strengthening trade facilitation and fostering economic integration among the member states remains a key priority for the Organization.
