In line with the decisions taken at the 1st Preparatory Meeting of the Turkic Council Inter-University Union, the 2nd Preparatory Meeting of Inter-University Union was successfully held at Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University deriving its name from the great Turkic thinker Yusuf Balasaguni (Yusuf Khass Hajib) who was the author of the first political treatise in Turkic history, Kutadgu Bilig.
That the meeting was organized in the framework of the 80th Anniversary of Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University bearing the name of Yusuf Balasaguni who had an unmatched significance in the history of Turkic literature, culture and politics, has given further weight to Turkic Inter-University Union Project aimed at constituting a structure to improve cooperation in higher education in the Turkic World.
Directive on the establishment of Higher Education Area among the Member Universities of the Union, prepared by Atatürk University, Chairman-in-Office of Turkic Inter-University Union, and reviewed by the other Parties and Secretariat, was adopted at this meeting. In this way, the first founding document of Turkic Inter-University Union has been agreed on.
Directive shall come into force following its endorsement at the meeting of Ministers of Education of the Turkic Council, which also include a representative from the Presidency of the Higher Education Council of Turkey.
Upon the endorsement of the Directive, the Process of Preparatory Meetings whereby the constitutive conditions of Turkic Council Inter-University Union have been set, shall be finalized.
Annual General Assembly meetings of Turkic Inter-University Union, the constitutive procedures of which has thus finalized, shall start with the “1st General Assembly Meeting of Turkic Inter-University Union”. Meetings to be organized within the scope of Turkic Inter-University Union shall be carried out in accordance with the regulations stipulated at the Directive.
The name of the process of establishing Higher Education Area of the Turkic Council Inter-University Union is decided to be “Orhun Process”.
Ege University will host the next meeting of the Union.
