Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Baghdad Amreyev had a meeting with Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov on 8 February 2022 in Baku.
Minister Jabbarov welcomed Secretary General Amreyev and appreciated the role of the OTS in advancing the economic relations among the Member and Observer States through multiple initiatives and projects in various sectors of economy.
Stressing the need for further development of trade and economic cooperation between OTS Member States, the Secretary General and the Minister held detailed discussion on the implementation of various investment projects, legal statue and further activities of the Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry as well as the establishment process of the Turkic Investment Fund aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The Secretary General and the Minister also underlined the importance of the multilateral Agreement on Free Trade in services and investments and the need to continue promoting trade facilitation and inclusive economic development in the region.
They also highlighted the importance of the organization of Business and İnvestment Forums that will contribute to the process of demining, reconstruction and development of liberated territories of Azerbaijan and lay down a solid basis to furthering trade and investment among the Member and Observer States.
The Parties also touched upon various topics of multilateral cooperation outlining the further steps to strengthen and encourage investment, intra trade, and economic cooperation within the Organization.
