The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev received the Mayor of Iznik, district of Bursa, Mr. Kağan Mehmet Usta, at the OTS Secretariat.
The Secretary General congratulated the Mayor for the successful organization of the 4th World Nomad Games that took place in Iznik between 29 September - 2 October and emphasized that the organization elevated the visibility of Iznik among Turkic countries and peoples, in particular the Kyrgyz citizens.
Mayor Usta presented the Secretary General with an honorary town citizenship certificate during the meeting.
The parties reiterated the importance of the Iznik Kyrgyz Tomb for both the Kyrgyz and Turkish nations, which was built by Ottoman Sultan Orhan Gazi in 1331 in memory of the martyrs of the Kyrgyz cavalry who helped conquest the city by the Seljuk state.
Honorary Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bursa, Mr. Bilal Tutuş, Deputy Secretary General of the Organziation of Turkic States Dr. Ömer Kocaman and OTS Project Director Mr. Ali Çiviler also attended the meeting.
