The Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ambassador Ramil Hasanov attended the “II. International Conference on Religions and their contribution on Concord and Peace” on 6 November 2017 in Madrid organized by the Evsen Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Spain.
The conference was attended by 600 participants from over 56 countries. Minister of Justice of Spain Rafael Catala Polo, Minister of Social Justice of Israel Gila Gamliel, Ex-President of Israel Dalia Itzik, Sheik-ul Islam and Grand Mufti of the Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazade, Cardinal of Catholic Church Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Jarusalem Sholomo Moshe Amar, Representative of Orthodox Church Aleksandr Buleko, Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations of Azerbaijan Mubariz Gurbanlı, other religious leaders from three Abrahamic religions across the world, academicians, ambassadors including the ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey, as well as a large number of media representatives were present at the conference.
At the opening speech, the founder and the president of the Evsen Foundation Dr. Ali Evsen drew attention to the peace messages of three Abrahamic religions and of their shared ground for establishing a just order in the world not only for their believers but for all humanity. He further highlighted the importance and urgency of the conference topic for the lasting peace and stability in the world.
Minister of Justice of Spain added in his speech that believers of three Abrahamic religions should approach one another as one of their own. The followers he said also need to learn others in order to see the similarities and allay fears towards each other.
Other than his remarks on the togetherness of the three Abrahamic religions and their peaceful nature, Sheik-ul Islam and Grand Mufti of the Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazade extended the greeting messages of the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. İlham Aliyev, as well as his strong support behind the conference.
At his speech, Secretary General Hasanov elaborated on the positive role of religion in peace and stability in a world marred by conflicts. Expressing Turkic Council’s efforts to maintain peace in its region, Secretary General Hasanov underlined that “by strengthening mutual confidence among the regional countries, by promoting effective regional and bilateral cooperation through creation of favorable conditions for lucrative economic and trade relation, by increasing people to people contacts, and by striving to ensure the rule of law and good governance in our member states, we try to underpin the peaceful atmosphere in our region”. He also provided information on Turkic Council’s relations with the UNAOC, where Turkey and Spain are co-sponsors.

The religious leaders of the three Abrahamic religions adopted a Final Declaration at the end of the conference containing their joint understanding and will to work together for a more peaceful world.
At the end of the conference, the speakers and supporters of the conference were presented statues representing the peace and collaboration among the three Abrahamic faith.
Secretary General also had the opportunity to have bilateral contacts on the margins of the conference and discussed the activities of the Council with participants across the world.
Secretary General Ramil Hasanov was accompanied by the Project Director Ali Çiviler and the Deputy Head of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Araz Salmanov.
