Third Meeting of the Baku-Aktau-Samsun-Kuryk Sister Ports of the Turkic Council was hosted by JSC “NC” Aktau International Sea Trade Port with the participation of representatives of the Ports of Baku, Aktau, Samsun and Kuryk on 13th May 2019 in Aktau.
The meeting started with the opening statements of the President of JSC ”Aktau International Sea Trade Port” Abai Turikpenbayev, Executive Director for Commercial Work Akhmad Mustafin and Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Gismat Gozalov.
The representatives of the Consulate General from Turkey and Azerbaijan based in Aktau were also present at the meeting.
The Parties touched upon the role of the Caspian region, as a crucial intersection of major transport routes in all directions. They shared the latest developments in the Trans Caspian International Corridor and emphasized the importance of taking necessary actions through creating favorable conditions across the corridor, particularly facilitation transit procedures by decreasing tariffs and logistical costs while accelerating the speed of the transport operations.
The meeting continued by the presentations of the Heads of Ports on their new facilities, infrastructure and potential to attract freight flow in China-Europe axis.
Furthermore, a lively discussion among the port officials and representatives from private sector were held on the ways to enhance cooperation among the sister ports and to facilitate transport operations along the Trans-Caspian Route.
To streamline efficient cooperation, Parties agreed to join efforts rendering the Trans-Caspian Corridor passing through our countries an efficient and sustainable route in East-West trade.
At the end of the meeting, the delegations visited the Aktau International Sea Trade Port to see capacity and the new facilities of the port.
The next meeting of the sister ports of the Turkic Council will be hosted by Samsun Port.
