The Turkic Business and Investment Forum was organized on 27 June 2024 in Issyk Kul in close partnership of the OTS Secretariat with the Union of Turkic Chambers and Commerce and Industry (TCCI) and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Forum was attended by the OTS Secretary General, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, the President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, the President of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Board Members of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as more than 200 business representatives from the Member and Observer States.
In his opening speech OTS Secretary General Amb.Kubanychbek Omuraliev expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the President of the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry for hosting the event and to the business communities of the Turkic States for their participation.
Highlighting the progress made by the Turkic States in various sectors, the Secretary General emphasized that the OTS countries are becoming key hubs for trade, energy and transportation, connecting East and West and North and South.
He added that the OTS Secretariat and the Member States should play a crucial role in the economic integration of the region, in particular to increase support for SMEs, reduce bureaucratic hurdles and streamline procedures for starting and operating businesses, including simplifying customs procedures and reducing tariffs.
In addition, Ambassador Omuraliev emphasized the need to continue activities on standardization of goods and services to meet international and regional quality standards, to conclude "Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Services and Investment" under the OTS, which aims to promote trade and investment by reducing barriers such as tariffs, quotas and regulatory restrictions, and "Partnership Agreement on Digital Economy (e-commerce)", which will facilitate end-to-end digital trade among the Turkic states.
Finally, he emphasized that such Forums will pave the way for stronger business-to-business cooperation in the focus sectors through major joint investment projects to be launched soon.
All speakers expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation within the TCCI, to enhance the role of women entrepreneurs, to take further measures to facilitate trade and investment, and to integrate and transform their economies through the application of new digital solutions.
Within the framework of the Forum, presentations were made on the topic "Export of products to the countries of the Turkic States", "Investment potential of Kyrgyzstan", and B2B meetings and discussions were organized.
Then, the meeting of TCCI members with the President of EuroChambers with participation of the OTS Secretary General was held. At the meeting the Parties agreed to establish close ties between the Turkic States Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) and to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between TCCI and EuroChambers, as well as to organize joint activities.
