Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev chaired the Ad Hoc SOC meeting attended by the senior officials of the Foreign Ministries of the Member and Observer States of Turkic Council-Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Hungary.
Senior Representatives from Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TURKPA), International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) and Turkic Academy also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Parties exchanged views regarding the Seventh Summit of the Turkic Council, which will take place in Azerbaijan this year. Representatives of the Member States and Turkic Cooperation Organizations expressed their views and proposals regarding the theme, the agenda and side events of the summit, as well as activities and cultural programs to be organized on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Nakhchivan Agreement.
Concerning relations between the Member States of the Turkic Council, the Secretariat informed senior officials in detail about the ongoing cooperation projects, as well as activities with brotherly countries and regional international organizations.
Secretary General gave detailed information to the representatives regarding the relations between Turkic Council and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as ongoing consultations of the Secretary General with high officials of key members of the Organization.
The Secretariat also provided detailed information regarding the Secretary General’s visit to the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Secretariat in Tehran on 7-8 April 2019 and prospective joint activities between two organizations within the Work Program adopted during the visit.
Hungarian delegation headed by the Ambassador of Hungary to Ankara, H.E. Viktor Matis had briefed the Senior officials meeting on ongoing relations and joint future activities between the Turkic Council and Hungary. Parties also discussed the proposal of opening a representation office of the Turkic Council in Budapest to deepen relations and sign a Memorandum of Understanding in this respect.
At the Ad Hoc SOC meeting, the Parties also discussed at length the means for implementing the decision taken by the Heads of States of the Turkic Council at Cholpon-Ata Summit on Reforming the Cooperation Organizations of the Turkic Speaking States.
Secretary General was accompanied by Deputy Secretaries General Ömer Kocaman and Gismat Gozalov, Project Directors Ali Çiviler, Zhyldyz Uzakova, Jeyhun Shahverdiyev, Özge Pan, Zhanar Nugumanova and Ersin Aydoğan.
