2nd Video-Conference Meeting of the Health Scientific Group of the Turkic Council held on 12 August 2020 for the follow-up and implementation of the decisions taken at the previous meetings and discussions of the next steps.
The meeting was moderated by H.E.Mr.Baghdad Amreyev, Secretary General of the Turkic Council and attended by Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Meşe, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Turkey and Chair of the Health Scientific Group; Mr. Nurbolot Usenbaev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic; Ms. Nazifa Mursalova, Head of the Public Health and Sanitary Epidemiological Surveillance Department of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Ms. Gulnara Mukhanova,Deputy Director of the Department of Strategy and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Bahrom Almatov, Director of Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Mrs Romána Zelkó, Head of Department of Semmelweis University of Hungary, as well as the members of the Health Scientific Group.
Secretary General Amreyev briefed the participants on the latest developments and activities conducted by the Secretariat in fight against the COVID-19 pademic. He underlined the importance of the meetings of the Health Scientific Group in exchanging experiences among the Member States in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the COVID-19 and other dangerous infections, as well as in creating joint databases, and organizing face to face and online trainings for medical professionals.
Prof. Dr. Hakan Türkçapar, the member of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Health of Turkey made a detailed presentation on the topic of management of individual and community psychology during the Covid-19 pandemic and answered questions of the participants. They discussed the ways of effective communication of the Health authorities as they perceived as trustworthy in providing basic and sufficient information in avoiding a panic among the populations.
Prof.Dr. Bakhyt Kosherova, Vice-Rector for Clinical Work of Karaganda Medical University also made a comprehensivepresentation on the topic of “The COVID-19 pandemic: What doctors of all specialties and nurses need to know?” for preparing the medical professionals to upcoming autumn-winter season and increasing the capacity of doctors, IDUs, hospital managers, heads of coronavirus infection departments involved in providing care to patients with COVID-19 at the outpatient and inpatient stages.
Parties agreed that Turkish side will organize face to face capacity building Workshop for medical professionals on vaccine development process in the last week of August and Kazakh side will organize online trainings on the topics of strategy of epidemiological surveillance in the post-pandemic period and laboratory surveillance for Covid-19 and infection control in September 2020.
