The delegation of the Turkic Council presided by Ambassador Ramil Hasanov,Secretary General of the Turkic Council attended on 17 January 2018 in Madrid the joint inaugural VIP reception of FITUR and UNWTO as the guest of the latter.

During the reception together with high level officials of FİTUR and the Minister of Tourism of Spain, the new Secretary General of UNWTO Zurab Pololikashvili delivered the opening remarks. After the remarks, both Secretary Generals discussed the ways to further enhance the fruitful existing cooperation between the Turkic Council and UNWTO. They underlined the importance to empower sustainable tourism in the region and to take joint action in transformation of the Silk Road as an attractive tourism destination. Ambassador Hasanov also had contacts with several heads of delegation during the reception.

Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman, Project Directors Pelin Musabay Baki, Ceyhun Şahverdiyev and acting Chief of Protocol Araz Salmanov accompanied Secretary General Hasanov at the event.
