Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman attended the “Taza Koom” (Pure Society) International Forum held on 11 June 2017 in Bishkek.
The Forum was inaugurated by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambaev, UN Secretary General António Guterres, Head of Presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic Sapar Isakov and Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs
Five panel discussions were held at the Forum: two plenary sessions and three thematic sessions. Deputy Secretary General Kocaman took part in the panel entitled “State and society - partners for development”.
In his speech, Deputy Secretary General Kocaman thanked the Kyrgyz Government for kind invitation to the forum and briefed on the Council’s recent activities in the field of ICT.
Emphasizing the transformative power of digital technologies, especially when implemented together with the public policy, Kocaman recognized the role of e-government in supporting the sustainable development.
The Deputy Secretary General, who touched upon the e-governmental statistics of the Turkic States, mentioned the common problems specific to the Turkic States in the field of e-government.
He also distinguished the successes of the member states in the said field and suggested solutions to the current challenges adding that member states can no longer afford to remain trapped in traditional ways of thinking and speaking out to adhere to sustainable development strategy proposed by the UN.
