Turkic Council International Election Observation Mission headed by the Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Dr. Omer Kocaman started monitoring the Parliamentary Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 4 February 2020 in two groups in Baku and Mingachevir. The delegations of International Election Observation Mission comprised of the officials of the Turkic Council Secretariat, as well as the Central Election Committee representatives and officials of the Member States other then Azerbaijan.
In the framework of pre-election contacts, members of the delegations met with the Head of the International Relations Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Hikmet Hajiyev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ramiz Hasanov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Mazahir Panahov, Head of Apparatus at the Executive Power of Baku City Mr. Elgin Habibullayev, Head of the Executive Power of Mingachevir City Mr. Ilham Ismailov, and the Chairman of the 47th Electoral Commission of Mingachevir District Mr. Oktay Mammadov, as well as with the representatives of political parties in two cities.
The delegations received detailed information on the electoral code, administrative preparations and measures taken in the framework of the electoral process, campaigning activities of the political parties, roles of international observer missions (international organizations and countries), as well as the innovations and improved organizational strategy of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the smooth flow of the elections.
Turkic Council Observation Mission monitors the elections on 9 February 2020 at various polling stations in Baku and Mingachevir and will submit its report to the Member States and relevant International Organizations in the aftermath of the Parliamentary Elections.
The Mission will be concluded with a Press Conference to be held on 10 February 2020, where the assessments of the delegations will be shared with national and international media outlets as well as the public.
