Turkic Council International Election Observation Mission concluded its activities with a Press Conference organized in Tashkent on 23 December 2019, during which Deputy Secretary General Dr. Omer Kocaman as the Head of Delegation shared the assessment of the Mission on the Parliamentary Elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the national, international media outlets and the public.
In the statement, the Mission congratulated the Uzbek authorities and Uzbek people for the successful conduct of the elections in compliance with national legislation and international standards and hoped that the results would further enhance development and prosperity of the country.
Following a brief account on its pre-election contacts with the Deputy-Foreign Minister, Deputy-Chairman of the Central Election Commission, representatives of Samarkand Election Commission as well as with the Chairmen and representatives of the political parties, the Mission expressed satisfaction with the changes brought by the new Electoral Code, the administrative measures taken, and significant resources allocated by the authorities for the organization and smooth flow of the elections.
The Mission then shared its monitoring assessments of the election day, during which the two delegations in Tashkent and Samarkand districts have visited 31 polling stations in total.
The Mission concluded its statement by affirming that the Parliamentary Elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan conducted under the slogan of “New Uzbekistan-New Elections” were open, transparent and competitive.
At the Press Conference, Deputy Secretary General Dr. Omer Kocaman was accompanied by Mr. Nazarali Aripov, Member of the Central Election Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Veysel Kurt, Assistant Proffessor at Medeniyet University of Turkey, and Project Directors of the Turkic Council Ali Civiler, Zhyldyz Uzakova, Ozge Pan and Farrukh Jumayev.
