The delegation of the Turkic Council International Elections Observation Mission composed of the representatives of the Secretariat, Central Election Committee and officials of the Member States other than Kyrgyzstan started preliminary meetings on elections of deputies of the local Kenesh and referendum on amendments to the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic to take place on 11 April 2021 in Bishkek.
On 9th April the Turkic Council Observation Mission headed by the Deputy Secretary General Dr. Ömer Kocaman held meeting with the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission and Referenda (CECR) Mrs. Nurzhan Shaydalbekova.
The Chairperson expressed her gratitude to the Turkic Council for kind acceptance of invitation to monitor the upcoming political event and informed on the preparation to the elections as well as on the proposed amendments to the Constitution.
Deputy Secretary General shared the views of the Turkic Council Observer Mission during the monitoring of previous elections in the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed his belief that the important reforms and administrative preparations undertaken by the Government of Kyrgyzstan will contribute to ensuring transparent elections based on the internationally recognized standards and the national legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Turkic Council delegation met also with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Azizbek Madmarov.
Deputy Minister informed that, despite the COVID-19 pandemic 48 polling stations have been established in 28 diplomatic missions in foreign countries for ensuring the involvement of Kyrgyz citizens living abroad in the voting process.
The Deputy Secretary General appreciated the active role of Kyrgyzstan in the Turkic Council’s activities and hoped that the country will further expand the cooperation in various areas, including enhancing intra-trade and transport potential of the Member States.
The delegation of the Turkic Council Observation Mission wished success to the Kyrgyzstan government in the upcoming elections and referendum and expressed their conviction that these elections will contribute to the stability and prosperity in the brotherly Kyrgyz Republic.
