Project Director of the Turkic Council, Pelin Musabay Baki delivered a speech at the Partners Forum of the 4th Istanbul Development Dialogues “Breakthrough - 2030", held on 4 April 2018.
In her speech, she touched upon the ongoing fruitful cooperation between the Turkic Council and UNDP contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Member States and across the region. Reminding that “together we are stronger”, she gave information on the projects that two institutions organized jointly or in partnership in the past 3 years.
Referring to the Turkic Council-UNOSSC report, she zoomed in the case study on tourism. In this context, she mentioned that in the vocational training programme on service sector carried out by Turkey for tourism employees of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan through the facilitation of the Turkic Council , more than 1000 people were trained so far and half of them were women. So as indicated in the report, the programme directly contributed to the achievement of SDGs no 4 on quality education, no 5 on gender equality and no 8 on decent job and economic growth. She added that there are other concret exemples in the areas of education, transportation, youth and sports where the Council puts efforts to attain the SDGs hand in hand with UNDP.
