Turkic Council Project Directors Jeyhun Shahverdiyev and Zhyldyz Uzakova attended the workshop on “Investing in the Sustainable Development Goals through South-South and Triangular Cooperation: Promoting conducive policy and legal environments in Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States” organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with Yingke Law Firm in Prague, Czech Republic on 15 May 2018.
The workshop aimed to scope the contributions of South-South investment in Europe and CIS region, identify challenges and good practices in policy and legal areas that can facilitate better South-South investment for sustainable development, and discuss regional integration efforts within the region and the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative and their contributions to sustainable development.
Project Director Jeyhun Shahverdiyev made a presentation about the Turkic Council’s partnership with UNDP and UNOSSC in contributing to the achievement of SDGs at 4th session which is called Opportunities and Strategies for South-South Investments in Europe and CIS. Referring to the Memoranda of Understandings of the Turkic Council with UNDP and UNOSSC, he mentioned the activities that the Turkic Council carrying out in different areas of cooperation with its Member countries. He underlined the firm commitment of the Turkic Council to work with UNOSSC in promoting and implementing South-South Cooperation in the region.
Project Director Zhyldyz Uzakova made a presentation on “Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package at the 5th session entitled Tourism as facilitator for South-South Investment and briefed the audience about the aim, preparation process and the structure of the Joint Tour Package and emphasized that further joint efforts need to be displayed in order to turn the traditional Silk Road as a well-known and attractive tourism destination.
Afterwards of the presentations the Director of the Yinke Law Firm Mr. Xiangrong Mei and Global Partner, Executive Chairman of Yingke Global Board Ms.Linda Yang expressed their interest and with participation of UNOSSC Deputy Director Xiaojun Grace Wang had discussion with Project Directors about the opportunities to collaborate with the Turkic Council in attracting Chinese tourists to the Turkic Council Modern Silk Road Joint Tour.
