Turkic Council Secretary General and the Vice President of the SIGA Alliance Ambassador Ramil Hasan participated in the General Assembly of the "Sport Integrity Global Alliance" (SIGA) held on 27 July 2018 at the UN Geneva Office.
The representatives of different governments and high-level officials coming from the relevant institutions and international organizations from around 100 countries discussed the founding documents, organizational structure and future projection of the SIGA, of which Turkic Council is a founding member.
George Washington University and Greek Federation of Modern Pentathlon became new members of the SIGA whose primary goal is to increase the unifying power of sport, protect the integrity and ethics code in sport, ensure equal opportunities and prevent corruption.
Secretary General Hasan made a speech during the General Assembly, which was moderated by the Chairman of SIGA Alliance Franco Frattini, an internationally-recognized politician who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy and Vice-President of the European Commission at the time. He noted that the cooperative efforts of the members led to the substantial work accomplished. He also added that the Secretariat will continue to support the SIGA, whose active presence in the Member States and the region is of particular importance to the Turkic Council.
Secretary General Hasan held several bilateral meetings on the margins of the General Assembly, first and foremost with the Chairman of SIGA Alliance Franco Frattini, ICSS President Mohammed Hanzab and Coordinator of SIGA Alliance Emanuel Medeiros. During the contacts, he informed his counterparts about the activities carried out by the Turkic Council in the field of youth and sports and made evaluations regarding the prospective steps to be taken within the scope of SIGA.
Project Director Ali Çiviler and Deputy Chief of Protocol Araz Salmanov accompanied the Secretary General Hasan during the General Assembly and the bilateral meetings.
