Turkic Council Secretary General H.E. Baghdad Amreyev had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Sardor Umurzakov on 25 June 2021 in Tashkent.
Parties discussed the issues of strengthening the relations among the Turkic Council Member and Observer States through advancing cooperation in various sectors, especially trade and economy, transport, investments, and tourism.
Secretary General and Deputy Prime Minister exchanged views on the short and long-term goals and perspectives of the Turkic World in numerous areas, including trade and economy, as well as current elaborations on the establishment of the Joint Investment and Development Fund aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and facilitating the implementation of various investment projects.
Touching upon the agenda of the upcoming 10th meeting of Ministers in charge of Economy planned to be held on 9-10 July 2021 in Baku, Parties stressed the importance of intensifying the Member States’ efforts to establish a preferential trade regime with a view to increase trade turnover in the region.
Parties also emphasized the broad opportunities for cooperation in the transport and logistics sphere, bearing in mind the implementation of joint projects aimed at building up the transit potential of the Turkic Council Member and Observer States. Deputy Prime Minister commended the decisive steps being taken in the framework of the Turkic Council for the digitalization of transport operations and customs procedures through implementing eTİR and ePermit systems in the Member States.
