Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on 30 December 2020 in Ankara.
During the meeting, the Secretary General and the Minister exchanged views on the activities of the Turkic Council in the year 2020 and discussed the main items of the Organization’s agenda for the new year 2021.
In this context, the Secretary General presented to the Minister the “Turkic Council Strategy for 2020-2025” and “Turkic World Vision-2040”, prepared by the Secretariat, based on the relevant decision of the Heads of Turkic States during the 2019 Baku Summit.
Parties exchanged views on the content of the document, that lays down a long-term roadmap for the future cooperation among the Member and Observer States.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that “Turkic Council Strategy 2020-2025 and Turkic World Vision-2040” will shed light to the future of the cooperation within the Turkic World and present a framework for deepening relations among the Member States considerably in various fields.
M. Çavuşoğlu and B. Amreyev emphasized that despite all the challenges and difficulties in 2020, it was a successful year for the Turkic world and the Member States emerged stronger with the important achievements; first and foremost the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from the occupation which was the victory for the whole Turkic World.
Underlining the strong solidarity shown by the Turkic world in the fight against pandemic, the Head of the Turkic Council mentioned that the Secretariat established relevant mechanisms to increase cooperation among the Member and Observer States in the field of health. A special MoU was signed by the Turkic Council and WHO as well as Joint Plan of Action was developed by the two organizations for the prospective cooperation.
The Minister and the Secretary General underlined the importance of finalizing the establishment of the Turkic Investment Fund, which will increase mutual investment opportunities and intra-trade, mobilize the economic potential of the Member States. Operationalisation of the Fund will also accelerate the economic relations among the Member States and increase the mutual investments in the countries.
M. Çavuşoğlu and B. Amreyev further discussed the preparations of the Informal Summit of the Turkic Council in Turkistan as well as its 8th Summit in Istanbul planned to be held in 2021.
Praising the productive and successful works done by the Turkic Council during the past years, the Turkey’s top diplomat noted that the Secretariat is playing a very crucial role in increasing the solidarity and strengthening the cooperation within the Turkic world and also in the region.
H.E. Çavuşoğlu stated that the Republic of Turkey will continue its support to the endeavors of the Secretary General and his stuff in establishing deeper collaboration among the Member and Observer States and is ready to host the 8th Summit of the Turkic Council next year in Turkey.
The Minister and the Secretary General also exchanged views on number of pressing topics of the international and regional political life.
The Deputy Secretary General of Turkic Council Omer Kocaman participated in the meeting.
