Turkic Council took part in the International Turkic Language Day Consultation Meeting.
Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Sultanbai Raev attended the meeting devoted to “International Turkic Language Day” organized by the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO on 10 February 2021.
Moderated by the Chairman of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, Prof. Dr. Öcal Oğuz the online meeting was participated by the representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Ministries of Education from the Member States, the UNESCO National Commission Officers, Representatives from TÜRKSOY, TURKPA, Turkic Academy, International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, TIKA and Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities of Turkey as well as academicians and researchers.
The opening session of the meeting featured a presentation on the activities of the UNESCO National Commission of Turkey, where Mr. Öcal Oğuz stated that they carrying our an intensive work together with the Turkic States, UNESCO national commissions and international organizations such as the Turkic Council, TURKSOY, Turkic Academy, TURKPA and International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation to declare the "International Turkic Language Day" at the level of UNESCO.
Secretary General of TURKSOY Dusen Kaseinov underlined the importance of language and indicated that our common language provides unity among our peoples and creates deep-rooted ties between our past and future.

In his speech, the Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Sultanbai Raev stated that the Turkic Council supports the announcement of the “Turkic Language Day” at the international level and is ready for any kind of assistance needed in this regard. 
S.Raev referred to the Declarations of the Turkic Council’s 6th Summit in Kyrgyzstan and 7th Summit in Azerbaijan, where the intensification of the consultations with the Member States on the announcement of the “International Turkic Language Day” was called upon.
He also underlined the importance of drawing a road map for Turkic-speaking communities in order to ensure the inclusion of Turkic language among the languages used in UNESCO.
At the meeting, the participants made further evaluations about the work carried out for the announcement of "International Turkic Language Day", the process and the procedures to be followed.
