The inauguration ceremony of the Second Turkic Space Explorers Academy of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held on 21 August 2024 at GUHEM (Gokmen Space and Aviation Training Center) in Bursa and attended by Mr. Yusuf Kıraç, President of the Turkish Space Agency, Mr. Mirvokhid Azimov Deputy Secretary General of the OTS and Mr. İbrahim Burkay, Chairman of Board of Governors of GUHEM.
Deputy Secretary General Azimov addressed the participants at the opening ceremony and underlined that Turkic World has valued knowledge and exploration throughout the history and this camp will mark united steps into the future of space. Mr. Azimov further expressed his belief that students taking part at the camp will contribute to the prospective projects in this field.
The program which is hosted by the Turkish Space Agency seeks to promote space awareness among Turkic youth, foster future space leaders as well as strengthen solidarity and friendships among the participants.
50 students from the Member and Observer States who are participated in the Academy will receive training in different subjects such as observational astronomy, rocket and space science, astrophysics, solar system and others.
