OTS Deputy Secretary General visited the WHO European Centre for Preparedness for Humanitarian and Health Emergencies in Istanbul

On 15 May 2025, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Merey Mukazhan visited the World Health Organization (WHO) European Centre for Preparedness for Humanitarian and Health Emergencies in Istanbul.

During the hybrid-format meeting, attended by the officials from the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the OTS, Deputy Secretary General Mukazhan reaffirmed OTS’s dedication to deepening its partnership with WHO in addressing health emergencies and emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation for regional preparedness during health emergencies.

The discussions focused on advancing joint capacity-building programs, knowledge exchange and collaborative initiatives to strengthen the ability of OTS Member States to respond effectively to health emergencies, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2020 and the Action Plan for the term 2024-2025 between the OTS and WHO.

The OTS and WHO expressed their mutual commitment to translating their shared objectives into concrete actions for the benefit of their respective Member States and the international community.
