The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Agreement and “Turkic States Cooperation Day” this year. Signed on 3 October 2009, the Nakhchivan Agreement laid the foundation for the OTS, providing a multilateral platform to promote collaboration and solidarity among the Turkic States. Over the last 15 years, the OTS has been instrumental in advancing cooperation across various sectors, including politics, economics, culture, transport, and climate action, thereby contributing to the development and progress of its member states.
The anniversary was commemorated at a special event in Ankara, which featured musical performances by musicians from TURKSOY, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic World, as well as a photo exhibition that highlighted key historical milestones of the OTS and the beauty of the Silk Road. The evening began with speeches by H.E. Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye, and H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS. Both speakers emphasized the enduring commitment to unity and cooperation among the Turkic nations.
The event was attended by dignitaries, high-ranking officials, diplomats, academics, and esteemed guests, who came together to honor this milestone, embodying the spirit of brotherhood and cultural exchange that continues to define the OTS.
