The 1st General Assembly of the Turkic Chess Association under the auspices of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) with the participation of representatives of chess federations of the Turkic States, as well as Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov was held on 13 December 2025 in Gazinatep, Türkiye.
During his address, Deputy Secretary General underlined that the establishment of the Turkic Chess Association reflects a shared vision to promote chess as a cultural, educational, and social bridge among the Turkic nations. He expressed appreciation to the founding federations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan for their initiative.
He also stressed that the Association is fully aligned with the OTS’s broader objectives of enhancing cultural, social, and educational cooperation and strengthening people-to-people ties among the Member States.
Furthermore, within the framework of the event, the Chess Championship of Turkic-Speaking Countries was also organized, bringing together players from across the Turkic World and further contributing to the promotion of friendly competition and sporting cooperation among the participating states.
