Ankara Designated as the Tourism Capital of the Turkic World for 2026

At the closing ceremony of the 10th Meeting of Ministers in Charge of Tourism of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in the courtyard of Ankara’s Ethnography Museum, H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS, delivered remarks. He warmly welcomed the decision to designate Ankara as the Tourism Capital of the Turkic World for 2026, expressing his strong belief that this decision will significantly contribute to the joint efforts in promoting the common cultural heritage of the Turkic World and to deepen cooperation in the field of tourism.

Alongside the Secretary General, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and other high-ranking officials also delivered speeches. They highlighted Ankara’s rich historical legacy, developed infrastructure, and symbolic importance. They underscored that this designation offers a unique opportunity to showcase Ankara’s heritage throughout the Turkic region.

The closing ceremony brought together high-level representatives from Member States and Observers of the OTS. They visited the exhibitions inside the Ethnography Museum. The event concluded with a concert by the Turkic World Music Ensemble, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic world.
