OTS Deputy Secretary General attended International Conference

Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Merey Mukazhan addressed at the opening session of the International Conference "Global Mountain Dialogue for Sustainable Development / Towards the Bishkek+25 Summit", organized by the Kyrgyz Republic together with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), in Bishkek on 24 April 2025.

Deputy Secretary General emphasized importance of the Green Vision document, which has been signed last year during the 10th OTS Summit in Bishkek. He also noted significance of environmental agenda for OTS.

The Conference brought together representatives to address pressing challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and socio-economic disparities in vulnerable mountain regions. Serving as a key milestone in the “Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions (2023-2027)”, the Conference also laid the groundwork for the upcoming “Second Global Bishkek Mountain Summit 2027 ("Bishkek+25")”.

Discussions covered a wide range of critical issues, including sustainable mountain development, disaster risk reduction, glacier preservation, gender empowerment, and financing for ecological resilience.

As a region with critical mountains, the Turkic World has a shared responsibility to protect these vital ecosystems and ensure sustainable development for mountain communities. The OTS reaffirms its goal to strengthen regional cooperation, support climate actions and promote sustainable livelihoods in the Turkic World.
