Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Dr. Ömer Kocaman attended the international investment and tourism forum entitled `Ancient Turkestan - New Opportunities`.
Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Dr. Ömer Kocaman took part and delivered a speech at the international investment and tourism forum entitled `Ancient Turkestan - New Opportunities" organized by the Akimat of Turkestan region on 28 September 2018 in Turkestan.

In his speech, Deputy Secretary General Kocaman gave comprehensive information on the achievements of the Turkic Council in the field of economy and tourism.

He presented a brief historical account of the organization`s activities in the field of the economy such Business Forums, Round Tables for the Businessmen and meetings of the Turkic Business Council, which was established upon the instructions given by the Presidents at the First Summit of the Turkic Council in 2011 in Almaty. He also mentioned the turkicbusiness.com online platform, which aims at eliminating physical, bureaucratic and linguistic constraints before the Small and Medium Sized Enterprises from the Member States.

In his presentation, Deputy Secretary General Kocaman reported in detail on the Modern Silk Road Joint Tour Package, a project that was prepared following the Turkic Council Bodrum Summit in 2014. The project purposes to introduce the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Member States on the traditional Silk Road.

Briefing on the development phase of the project, Deputy Secretary General underlined the importance of Turkestan city along with the cities of Shymkent and Taraz as promising touristic destinations to be discovered by travelers and tourists from around the world. He also thanked the Governor (Akim) of Turkestan region Zhanseit Tuymebayev for his continuous support in all Turkic Council`s endeavors including the joint tour package and emphasized that the decision of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to make the Turkestan city the capital of the region will help attract foreign investment and promote sustainable development of the region.
