The Turkic Council delegation, led by Secretary General Halil Akıncı, attended the screening of the film “Sübhün Sefiri” (Messenger of the Morning), jointly organized by TÜRKSOY and Istanbul Aydın University as part of the “2012 Mirza Fetali Ahundzade Year Closing Events”. Before the screening, Halil Akıncı gave a speech about Ahundzade's contributions to the Turkic world. Among the other participants who delivered speeches about the life and ideas of Fetali Ahundzade, one of the first advocates of using the Latin alphabet for Turkic languages, were Vagif Aliyev, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan; Anar Rızayev, President of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union and screenwriter of the film; and Şuayip Karakaştı, Dean of Istanbul Aydın University.
