Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly and Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Binali Yıldırım visited the Secretariat of the Turkic Council in Istanbul on 6 September 2021.
H.E. Binali Yıldırım had a meeting with Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev, during which the Parties discussed the activities of the Turkic Council, latest developments in the Turkic World, as well as preparations of the 8th Summit of the Turkic Council planned to be held in 12 November 2021 in Istanbul.
B.Amreyev briefed H.E. Binali Yıldırım regarding the main topics in the agenda of the Turkic Council in the upcoming period, new mechanisms of facilitating trade and investment among the Member States, establishment of the Turkic Council Investment Fund, as well as the agenda of 10th Meeting of the Ministers in charge of Economy of the Turkic Council to be take place on 10th September 2021 in Baku.
Underlining the significant role conducted by the Turkic Council in developing cooperation among the Member and Observer States during the last couple of years, H.E. Yıldırım stated that Member States can improve and deepen their relations in all fields, first and foremost in economy. Binali Yıldırım expressed his firm belief that trade volume among the Member States can increase and reach its potential together with the endeavors of the Secretariat and extended the support of Turkey to the efforts diverted in this direction.
Parties also emphasized the importance of the historical and cultural ties among the Member States and to take necessary steps to carry forward in this regard.
H.E. Binali Yıldırım and B. Amreyev have conducted detailed discussions on the issues related to the Council of Elders of the Turkic Council, which is advisory-consultative institution composed of reputable and respected persons from the Member States.
Parties also exchanged views on different pressing issues of the international and regional politics.
Dr. Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General accompanied the Secretary General during the meeting.
