International Conference entitled “Turkistan: Spiritual Capital of the Turkic World” co-organized by the Turkic Academy and the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University on 28 May 2021, was held in Kazakhstan’s city of Turkistan.
Moderated by the President of the Turkic Academy, the meeting was attended by the Secretary General of TURKSOY Dusen Kasseinov, Deputy Secretary General of Turkic Council Omer Kocaman, Rector of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University ZhanarTemirbekova, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Mukash, Deputy Governor of Turkistan Region Saken Kalmakanov, officials from the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as representatives from the diplomatic missions of the Turkic Council Members States and prominent academicians and scientists.
Mr. Darkhan Kıdırali, President of the Turkic Academy delivered the opening speech of the Conference, where he underlined the historical and current meaning and importance of Turkistan both for Kazakhstan and for all Turkic countries. Referring to the its declaration as the Spiritual Capital of the Turkic World at the recently organized Informal Turkistan Summit of the Turkic Council with the initiative of Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, Mr. Kıdırali stated that the revitalized city of Turkistan is a great monument dedicated to the solid unity of brotherhood among the Turkic peoples.
Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ömer Kocaman briefed the participants on the cooperation platforms established by the Turkic Council to carry the deep-rooted relations between the Turkic States to a higher level and underlined that the path and the spirituality of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi will enlighten the road ahead and strengthen the works undertaken by the Organization.
Omer Kocaman also noted that during the latest Informal Turkistan Summit of the Organization Turkistan was declared as the "Spiritual Capital of the Turkic World" by the Heads of States.
Referring to the Summit Declaration, he stated that the individual and joint investments of the Turkic States will be kicked off in Turkistan in the upcoming period and upon the proposal of the President of Kazakhstan, H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Turkic Council will start working on the establishment of a "Special Economic Zone" in the city, which will spread Turkistan's great economic, commercial and investment potential to the benefit of the Turkic States.
Within the scope of the Conference, the guests also visited the historical and natural beauties of the city of Turkistan and the tomb of its spiritual treasure Khoja Akhmet Yassawi.
