Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mukhtar Tleuberdi, paid a visit to the Representation (European) Office of the Turkic Council in Budapest on 9 October 2020.
The Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Tamás Menczer, the Executive Director of the Representation Office Dr. János Hóvári welcomed the Minister at the Representation Office.
After the presentation of the Office building a working meeting was held between the Foreign Minister, the Secretary General and the State Secretary, where the Head of the Turkic Council briefed the sides on the plan of activities of the European Office of Turkic Council.
He pointed out that the Office represents the institutional presence for the Turkic world in Europe and aims at developing fruitful ties with Hungary, other European countries and institutions to stimulate the interests of the Turkic Council countries in the field of economy, business, investments, education, tourism and culture, among others.
Secretary General highlighted the importance of establishing constructive relations with the EU and its commissions, particularly with Eastern Partnership and the new EU strategies for Central Asia. A special focus will be made on collaboration with OSCE, and Visegrad Group.
The Kazakh Foreign Minister M. Tleuberdi underlined in his speech the important role of the Office in representing the Turkic world in Europe and expressed his satisfaction with the diligent and meticulous work of the Turkic Council and restated full support of Kazakhstan to the Secretariat and its Representation Office in Europe in all their efforts. He also highlighted the role of the Turkic Council in ensuring cooperation and coordination among the Member and Observer States in the fight against the pandemic as well as to find ways to overcome its negative effects in the post-pandemic period.
Parties paid special attention to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and reiterated their position on the importance of the early settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, on the basis of sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Sides exchanged views on the developments taking place in Kyrgyzstan and expressed a common view on a peaceful solution of the crisis within the constitutional framework of Kyrgyzstan.
At the same day the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Hungary Mihaly Varga hosted an informal dinner in honour of the Foreign Minister Tleuberdi and the Secretary General Amreyev where the Parties discussed ways to boost investment potential and trade turnout among the Turkic Council Member States, Hungary and European countries.
