OTS Secretary General addressed the Opening Ceremony of the International Congress within the framework of the Turkic World Week in Baku

H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) addressed the International Congress: “The First Turkological Congress: A Century of Scientific and Cultural Heritage” within the framework of the Turkic World Week on 29 June 2026 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In his remarks, the Secretary General expressed his appreciation to H.E. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, for his initiative to organize the Turkic World Week dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress.

Highlighting the historic significance of the First Turkological Congress held in Baku in 1926, the Secretary General emphasized that its vision of unity, cooperation and cultural revival continues to inspire the work and activities of the OTS. He noted that, under the leadership of the Heads of State, the Turkic States have strengthened their solidarity and cooperation, describing the current period as "the beginning of the Golden Age of the Turkic World."

The Secretary General also highlighted the series of commemorative events organized throughout the anniversary year, including an international conference held last month with the Turkic Cooperation Organizations and upcoming events in Tashkent, Samarkand and at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

He concluded by wishing every success to the International Congress, the Turkic World Week, and all participants.

Moreover, congratulatory messages from the Presidents of the Turkic States were conveyed to the participants of the Congress and the Turkic World Week.
