The Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) hosted the meeting of the Fatwa Committee under the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of OTS on 24-25 February 2025 at its facilities in Istanbul. The meeting was attended by H.E. Abdulaziz Zakirov, Grand Mufti and Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan and high-level officials of Muslim religious institutions and leading religious scholars from the OTS Member States.
Secretary General of the OTS H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev addressed the meeting and emphasized the crucial role of religious cooperation in strengthening Turkic unity and solidarity and enhancing people-to-people ties.
He underlined the special attention given to this area by the Heads of State of OTS, as reflected in the Bishkek Declaration, and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts in addressing contemporary religious issues.
Moderated by Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov, the OTS Deputy Secretary General, the meeting discussed various aspects of religious jurisprudence, particularly those affecting family life, social well-being, and the spiritual unity of the Turkic world.
Participants exchanged views on issues related to marriage, religious rulings on critical medical conditions, and the harmonization of religious practices across OTS countries.
