Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, on the margins of his visit to New York on 17-23 September 2023, attended to the "Path to Global Zero Waste Movement" event which was held under the auspices of H.E. Emine Erdoğan, First Lady of the Republic of Türkiye.
The event was organized at the Turkish House and attended by H.E. Mehmet Özhaseki, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Eric Adams, Mayor of New York City, more than 10 First Ladies from different countries as well as top UN officials and other high-level participants.
At the event, Participants emphasized the importance of zero waste initiative in mitigating the negative effects of the climate change, preserving the environment and ensure sustainable development without waste.
It was also underlined that the Recycling and Zero Waste Fair will be held in Istanbul this year with the aim to contribute zero waste target, considering that 41 tons of every 127 tons of food produced in the world is wasted.
