The 4th Caspian Business Forum was organized by the Caspian Policy Center on 19 September 2023 in New York with the participation of high-level government officials, representatives of NGO’s, expert communities, business and academic circles.
The Secretary General of the Organization of the Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev and H.E. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources of the U.S. Department delivered keynote speeches at the Caspian Business Forum.
The Forum was hosted by the Chief Executive Officer of the CPC, Mr. Efghan Nifti, moderated by the Ambassador (ret.) H.E. Richard Hoagland. At the panel session dedicated to the “United States - Caspian Strategic Partnership” by H.E. Elnur Mamedov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Kairat Umarov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Burak Akçapar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Ardak Zbeshev, Chairman of Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other high level participants attended and delivered their speeches.
In his speech, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev briefed the participants on the Organization’s current activities and ongoing projects as well as shared insights with the audience regarding the trade and economic potential of the Turkic countries, initiatives for economic growth and cross-border cooperation.
The Secretary General noted the growing cooperation in the energy sector and the implementation of concrete projects aimed at creating an effective platform for multilateral cooperation. He also emphasized the pivotal role Turkic countries play in ensuring energy security in Europe and Asia.
Furthermore, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev briefed participants about the transport potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transportation Corridor (Middle Corridor). He also touched upon the Agreement on the Establishment of a Simplified Customs Corridor and the Agreement on International Combined Freight Transport, both of which were signed at the OTS Samarkand Summit last year.
Panel sessions, dedicated to the “Connectivity and Investment”, and “Energy and Climate” topics were also held at the Forum.
