On 16 December 2022, within his working trip to the Republic of Azerbaijan Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States held a meeting with Mr. Samir Valiyev, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku.
Deputy Minister Valiyev congratulated the Secretary General on his recent appointment. He stated that participation in the existing energy cooperation mechanisms and platforms in the framework of the OTS is of great importance for the Azerbaijani side. In this regard, he expressed his belief for efficient implementation of the OTS Program on Energy Cooperation for 2023-2027 and the relevant Action Plan adopted at the 2nd meeting of Ministers in charge of Energy in Almaty in September 2022.
Deputy Minister also informed on the current goals and undertakings of the Ministry related to the sector of oil and gas, as well as renewable energy.
Ambassador Omuraliev noted that Azerbaijan, as a bridge between Asia and Europe and a key energy player in the region, has proven to be a reliable partner in terms of ensuring the regional energy security. Having welcomed the outcomes of the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Turkmenistan held recently in the city of Awaza, the Secretary General emphasized that such meetings significantly contribute to fostering the Turkic cooperation, including in the sphere of energy.
Moreover, the sides held exchange of views on current and prospective international energy projects involving Turkic States, as well as opportunities and challenges in this respect.
The parties also discussed the calendar of upcoming OTS activities to be held in the field of energy.
