Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev met with the Assistant Director General - Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Mr. Vladimir Rakhmanin at an online meeting held on 24 March 2023.
During the meeting, OTS Secretary General and FAO Assistant Director General discussed a variety of topics related to food security, agriculture, and rural development in the Turkic States. They also exchanged ideas on how to enhance the cooperation between the OTS and FAO in addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the region's agricultural sector.
Secretary General Omuraliev highlighted the OTS's commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development in the Turkic States, and expressed appreciation for FAO's support in achieving these goals. Assistant Director General Rakhmanin also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the OTS and FAO in terms of advancing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their commitment to continue working together to strengthen the agricultural sector in the Turkic States and ensure food security for the region's people. The Parties agreed to formalize their relations on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation that will be signed in the upcoming period.
