Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, Dr. Omer Kocaman took part in the Roundtable on the “Trade Connect Central Asia+” Program organized on 28 April 2023 on the sidelines of the 2nd Tashkent International Investment Forum.
The President of the Islamic Development Bank, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Jamshid Khodjayev and representatives of Central Asian countries, Azerbaijan and representatives of international and regional institutions attended the meeting.
Considering the high potential of international trade in the region and to achieve its vision as a leading provider of trade solutions for OIC Member Countries, International Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) has designed the Trade Development Program for the Member Countries in Central Asia, called the “Trade Connect Central Asia+”, as its flagship program in the region, by targeting Central Asian 5 countries plus Azerbaijan.
The objective of the program is to achieve inclusive economic growth, regional economic cooperation and promote trade, among the Central Asia+ Region and with the rest of the world.
During his speech at the roundtable, Dr. Omer Kocaman briefed about economic potential of the Turkic region, in particular, trade and investment collaboration and the ongoing activities of OTS to promote and eliminate of trade barriers, introduce new mechanisms in this matter.
He also expressed the interest of OTS in participating in the “Trade Connect Central Asia+” Program which covers the Turkic region, by engaging in various projects and programs to stimulate intra-trade relations.
