Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev is participating in the International Conference «Peace and Trust Policy – Basis of International Security, Stability and Development» being held on 11-12 December 2021 in Ashgabat.
The plenary session of the Forum was moderated by President of Turkmenistan H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and attended by heads of the world’s leading international and regional organizations, heads of the ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, diplomatic missions and media.
During his welcoming remarks, President Berdimuhamedow underlined that the principles of peacefulness, trust, openness to dialogue are inherent in the foundation of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. Emphasizing the uniqueness of Turkmenistan’s status of Permanent Neutrality, which is firmly based on current realities and centuries-old experience of the people, the President highlighted that it serves as a strong guarantee of ensuring peace and security in the region as well as an important factor impacting the positive development of international economic and political processes.
President of Turkmenistan also emphasized the need to form a new philosophy of international relations based on clearly defined political criteria, healthy and strong pragmatism, and universally recognized and comprehensible human values.
Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev delivered a speech during the plenary session of the Conference and underlined the timeliness and significance of the President Berdimuhamedow’s initiative to hold the high-level Conference in International Year of Peace and Trust declared by the respective resolution of the UN GA promoted by Turkmen leader.
Touching upon the vital role of mutual trust in tackling current global and regional challenges collectively, Secretary General highlighted that Turkmen neutrality had demonstrated its viability in addressing these issues and has every reason to become an effective platform for restoring and strengthening global trust.
Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev concluded that the Organization of Turkic States would expand its regional potential with the participation of Turkmenistan which would certainly fuel an ongoing spirit of cooperation in the Turkic world for common destiny.
